Make no mistake, these knives are BONE handles...but their likeness to genuine stag prompts the very fitting name....BoneStag.

The pattern number will also reflect the connection....6.5 has been the code designated for this new handle material. So for instance, a BoneStag trapper would bear the pattern number (6.5254 SS) The 6 denotes the genuine cattle bone handle, while the .5 denotes its INCREDIBLE resemblance to Stag.

BoneStag – A Perfect Blend. A century ago, Case masterpieces were crafted of the finest Genuine Mother-of-Pearl, Genuine Stag antler, Rosewood, Celluloid, and BoneStag. BoneStag handles were made of genuine cattle bone, with jigging or patterns cut onto the surface that might resemble those found on Stag antler. As time evolved, we came to call this type of handle material genuine jigged bone. Now, in 2002, there seems to be no better term than BoneStag to describe our newest family of knives. Case Genuine 6.5 BoneStag handles are jigged and treated under open flame in just the same way we treat Genuine Stag. Take a look at the pattern number for this family, and you will see another connection. We’ve decided that since this exciting new handle is made of bone, it should naturally have a “6”, and because of its striking Stag appearance, we added the “.5” making our new pattern number “6.5”.
