1. You MUST post your profile on the Profiles board (and I, Wolverine, MUST approve it) before you can roleplay. The profile must be in the format provided here, or it will most likely NOT be accepted.
You should probably join the site and have your screen name be the name of your character first. You can post your profile as a Guest, but it would be better if you joined the site first. Make a thread on the Profiles board with your profile on it. Wait for me to approve it. I will post on the thread AND send you a private message (unless you've posted as a Guest). People may comment on your profile, giving constructive criticism and possibly compliments. Try to listen to them and not take anything personally. Remember, they're just trying to help. Also, if your profile isn't approved the first time, don't automatically give up on joining the site. Sometimes I will decline a profile not because it was a bad profile but because it didn't match up with our version of X-men. Listen to whatever comments I've given and try again. Make sure you make a new thread for your next attempt so that I can see it more easily. You shouldn't apply again ONLY if I've told you that I don't think your level of roleplaying will be good enough for our site for quite a while and deleted your screen name. THEN you shouldn't apply again until you've gotten a lot better. Otherwise, feel free to try as many times as you want. You can post on the Out of Character boards even if you haven't been approved for roleplaying and get tips for roleplaying. Oh, and you MUST post a profile before roleplaying even if I know you and I know your roleplaying is good. This is just so that I know what your interpretation your character is and also to make it fair for everyone who wishes to join. Once I've accepted I will put your written profile as your website in your profile look-up unless you already have a website there. You can change it if you want. Remember to make your display name your character's name. If your character is a mutant with a nickname (i.e. Cyclops, Wolverine, etc.), then make your display name the nickname and not your character's real name. It really doesn't matter much to me, but I prefer that you use the nickname.

2. MADE-UPS ARE FINE.
You can make up X-men characters and use them on the site. Just don't use characters from other comics like the Fantastic Four, Spiderman, Daredevil, etc.

3. Be active, especially if you're a canon character like Xavier or Nightcrawler.
If you're not sure if you can be active, don't take an important canon character who was mentioned in the movies. You can, however, take a canon character who wasn't mentioned in the movies even if you're not sure you can be active. If you're not going to be able to post for at least a week, make a thread on the Site Related board telling me so that I don't delete you. Important characters mentioned in the movies (like Cyclops or Iceman) must post at least once a week (preferably more than that). I won't delete you if you didn't post for a week, but if you continually post very sparingly without any explanation, I'll have to send a warning and then eventually delete you. All other characters must post at least once a month or will be automatically deleted (with warning). If you know you can't be active, just tell me so, and I will delete your account.

4. Be true to your character and his/her limitations.
Even Magneto and Professor Xavier have their flaws and weaknesses. Don't make your character know everything about everything (like knowing everything about Wolverine's past) or be way too powerful (for example, able to resist Xavier's powers). If you're character is doing something they shouldn't be doing, I'll either send you a message or comment about it in a post. It's not a warning, just a friendly reminder. Also, try to be true to your character's personality as shown in the movies and comics. Don't make Cyclops suddenly want to be friends with Wolverine. Don't make Magneto fall in love with Jean Grey. I know that no one's perfect and that you have your own interpretation, but just try to do your best. That's all I can ask.

5. This site is rated PG-13 for sexual themes, violence, and some adult language.
That's PG-13, not X-rated. You can use bad words, but don't use them in every single post. I am aware that X-men are adults, and they do have sex, but do NOT engage in explicit sex scenes. You can mention that so-and-so slept with your character, but you CANNOT have a thread with explicit chat. That could get you deleted. Violence is inevitable when it comes to X-men. However, don't have violence for violence's sake; there should be a reason for it to be happening.

6. You may have RP many characters as you want, but one character per account. And you must have your profile approved for every character.
That's pretty much self-explanatory.

7. DO NOT cheat the Karma/Cash system in any way. Otherwise, you will probably get deleted and possibly banned.
No trading Karma. You can give some one Karma because they gave you Karma, but it can't be a long cycle which gets both of you 10 Karma points a day. In addition, you CANNOT give your other accounts Karma for any reason. I can see all Karma exchanges and IP addresses. Don't give tons of Karma to the same person. Try to give Karma to different people. Also, don't take away tons of Karma from the same person. One or two is OK, but -10 Karma points from the same person is just plain mean. In addition, no spamming. That means no making tons of short, pointless posts just to get more cash.

8. Treat others with respect, and do not post offensive messages.
I know disagreements come up sometimes, but try to be reasonable and talk to the other person. If something happens, tell me (Wolverine), and I'll try to help you through it. Do not post messages that are intolerant of race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, etc. That could get you banned and/or deleted.
9. You get $100 for referring someone to the site.
Referring someone means you got someone to join. DO NOT make a second account and pretend to be someone else and say you referred yourself. It's not that hard to earn $100 here anyway. Remember: the person who joins has to mail me telling me you referred them. I can't just take your word for it.
Well, that's about it. I may update the rules later.
